SANTEE, San Diego County — October 31, 2026. Santee has scheduled its 2026 Holiday Lighting celebration for Friday, November 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Santee Trolley Square, 9884 Mission Gorge Road. Organizers describe a free outdoor evening intended for families, with a tree-lighting moment planned for 6:15 p.m.
What is on the event schedule?
The City of Santee event page lists live music by Upstream, face painting, seasonal photo opportunities, sledding and pictures with Santa. The tree lighting is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Those are advertised elements, not a promise that every activity or character appearance will remain available for the full duration of the evening.
Where will Santa photos be?
According to the city, the Santa photo area will be set up between Target and Miniso in the shopping center. Families should check for onsite signs and staff guidance; large attendance may result in queues or limits on individual activities.
Parking and public transit
The city warns that parking near the celebration is limited and encourages visitors to consider the Copper Line trolley to reach the shopping center. Anyone using transit should confirm the final return service for Friday evening before going. Parking and traffic rules around nearby private businesses continue to apply.
What if it rains?
The organizer currently describes the event as rain or shine, with adjustments possible to keep participants comfortable and safe. That is not a guarantee that severe weather could never change an event. Check the official event page near November 20 for revised instructions.
Admission to the city celebration is advertised as free; ordinary purchases from the shopping center’s restaurants and retailers remain separate. Residents can make a short visit for the lighting or plan a longer family evening.
